The world’s largest job and recruiting website Glassdoor has published its annual list of the 50 best jobs in America for 2020. The top seven spots on Glassdoor’s list of best jobs are taken by tech jobs that appeared there 20 times.

The list begins with a front-end engineer outranking data scientist that was holding the top spot since 2016. Making the list of best jobs, Glassdoor considers the following factors: a very strong salary of over $100,000, over 13,000 open positions around the country, and strong job satisfaction. The median base salary of front-end engineers is $105,240, job satisfaction level is 3.9 out of 5, and there are 13,122 job openings.

According to Amanda Stansell, Senior Economic Research Analyst at Glassdoor, the position of front-end engineers strikes a great balance between the three factors that are important for job seekers.

Front-end engineers are responsible for implementing visual elements that users see and interact within a web application. They select, install and test the user interface elements of a website. The job requires a good background, both theoretical and practical.

Stansell said:

“Front-end engineers use different programming languages to build the user interface for a website. They are helping create more user-friendly website interfaces as companies expand their online presence both on desktop and mobile devices.”

Next on Glassdoor’s list of best jobs are java developer, data scientist, product manager, and DevOps engineer. Data engineers and software engineers close the top seven positions. Data scientist position that was the top in 2016 offers a median base salary of $107,801. With 6,542 job openings in the U.S., it satisfies specialists by 4/5. According to Stansell, it remains an excellent career to get into.
